Market Towns are ideal for those that want to take a stroll, do a bit of shopping and simply take in the delights that these towns have to offer.

SKIPTON

It’s easy to spend a day in the historic market town of Skipton with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. The Leeds to Liverpool canal runs through Skipton and a skippered canal boat trip is a great way to see the town and enjoy an afternoon tea in the fresh air. The award-winning Skipton market operates 4 days a week with stalls set up along the high street selling everything from cheeses to scarves, and local meat to arts & crafts.

Skipton is just a 20 minute drive from The Forest.

SKIPTON CASTLE

900 year old Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England. With 6 drum towers, every corner of the castle can be explored, from the depths of the Dungeon to the top storey of the Watch Tower. The east tower of the gatehouse contains a 17th-century shell grotto, one of two remaining grottos in the country from this period.
